I endorse your view on public transport. Since more then 20 years I’m getting around without a car. The only moments I miss it sometimes is when I do the weekly shopping at the supermarket, but when I’m getting too old for carrying my groceries, most supermarkets have a delivery service that brings your stuff to your doorstep. You can even save yourself the trip by ordering your stuff online and getting it delivered.
