Chew On This

cr_1_0

In the course of my travels, I’ve seen all kinds of hotel and hostel promotional giveaways and handouts. The typical items are postcards, imprinted pens, local maps and even branded bottles of water, but the Kokopelli Backpacker Hostel has topped them all. To encourage guests to visit their new location in Cuzco, Peru, the Lima-based hostel has begun distributing business cards with coca leaf-shaped cut-outs. Travelers are encouraged to pop-out the coca-infused leaves and to chew on them to alleviate altitude sickness when they arrive in Cuzco, which sits at 11,152 feet above sea level.

The film was shot, directed and edited by David Baksh with original music from James Fortune. This enchanting little film will captivate you—it’s well worth your time.

One of my favorites is a wonderful, nostalgic collections of over 25,000 postcards of U.S. sites. The linen textured, colored postcards were produced between 1930 and 1945 by Boston-based Tichnor Brothers Inc..
