Tom Gauld does it again.
The Los Angeles Metro system has released a gruesome series of public safety videos that should have come with a PG-13 rating. Using stick figures and a stark yellow and black palette, the safety shorts emphasize the importance of basic safety precautions for staying intact while using mass transit.
Each of the PSAs has an attention grabbing title, such as “Heads Up or Headless”, or “Dismount or Dismembered”, and my favorite, “Careful or Crushed”.
I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan, but sometimes I forget exactly how the characters are related. And although I’ve read every book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, the Houses and their relationships can be confusing. HBO recently released this very helpful infographic to help us keep it all straight.
The folks at My Poetic Side blog did some historical research on the deaths of 239 poets. Then they compiled the forensic data in this neat infographic.

Director Philip Bloom has created an otherworldly version of Sin City in this surrealistic, slo-mo, infrared video peek at Las Vegas. Actually, it’s exactly as I remember it.
American artist and graphic designer Barbara Kruger is probably best known for her text-based art. You see her latest major work from New York city’s ever-popular High Line Park at West 22nd Street in Chelsea. The text is a play on a famous quote from the revolutionary philosopher Frantz Fanon—”Blind idealism is reactionary.”
When I was young, I was fascinated by the early 20th century Dada Movement. I even sported a button with I.K. Bonset’s moto “Je suis contre tout et tous” . So, I was excited to discover that the Museum of Modern Art in New York was exploring the Dadaists in a new exhibition called Dadaglobe Reconstructed. The show focuses on a failed project organized by Dada founder Tristan Tzara. In 1920, the poet gathered more than 100 works from Dadaists artists and writers in 10 countries for an anthology to be titled Dadaglobe. The compilation was supposed to include photos of artworks, original drawings, photo self portraits, and layouts for book designs.
The project never reached fruition due to disagreements among the participants and financing problems. But Tzara managed to secure contributions from Dada icons such as Max Ernst, Man Ray, Hannah Höch, Jean Arp, marcel Duchamp, and Francis Picabia. The MoMA show brings together 100 pieces from Dadaglobe that have been scattered in collections around the world for nearly a century. The show runs through September 18, 2016.
